The year 2011 brings the inaugural season of the American V8 SuperCar Series to the SF Region of the SCCA. The AV8SS is a new class of racing that is comprised of multiple makes of cars beginning with the model year 1964. They are required to be normally aspirated production based V8s that will allow all wheel drive. AV8SS will run with the existing GT-1 class entrants in the SF Region of the SCCA. The series is designed to be a viable marketing and sales showcase for the performance aftermarket that will help manufacturers develop and prove new products.

For competitors the AV8SS promises to provide an affordable yet exciting and competitive series for both West and East Coast participants. With a dedicated GT-1 run group races will be safe yet fast with frequent overtaking. We expect AV8SS to begin to build a dedicated spectator following quickly as the word spreads as to its quality of competition.
